Helen Bissell of Ionia picks out roma tomatoes and lamb’s ear plants on opening day for the Wealthy Street Farmers Market on the corner of Wealthy Street SE and Cass Ave SE on Thursday. Bissell walked across the street on her lunch break from Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital with a few of her colleagues. “We’ve been counting down the days for this to open,” she said. This is the first season for the market, which will run every Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
